What now? On July 13th, the State Public Health Officier ordered counties which have been on the State's County monitoring list for more than 3 consecutive days to close indoor operations of gyms and fitness facilities, including Martial Arts studios. The order is effective until Wednesday, August 12th. What does that mean to Gracie Barra? Failure to comply with this order may constitute a misdemeanor punishable by fine of up to $1,000, imprisionament, or both. OUCH! Can we still train? YES! We will be offering classes outdoors until we can resume training inside out facility. After much discussion, we've been granted a permit by the City of Santa Barbara to take our classes to State Street. We are also working on getting the approval from the Parking Administration to set up our mats on the parking lot adjacent to our building. This way we can run multiple classes simultaneously. How's it gonna work? It has been warm lately, so we decided to invest in a large gazebo tent to accommodate our students while training outdoors. It may take up to a week for the tent to be delivered. Therefore we've decided to limit our class schedule to keep everyone toasting under the sun. This week our classes will be starting at 6:30pm, and we will concentrate on Strength & Conditioning training, and striking. Our Jiu-Jitsu program will resume next week, after we have our tent set up. Boxing classes will be replacing Jiu-Jitsu at noon. For those who don't know, Prof Paulo used to be a professional boxer, before switching to MMA. Please, note that the schedule is subject to change, and more classes may be added soon. We apologise for the inconvenience caused by these changes. We are doing our best to maintain a resonable level of confort to our students during this time. What's the schedule like this week? Check out our outdoor class schedule below. Keep in mind that the schedule is subject to change, and more classes may be added throughout this week. |
