Hey ! You’ve probably heard this before but there are so many benefits of gratitude. But if you’re like me, you’ve thought “I’m sure it does but I don’t have time to sit down and write down all the things I’m grateful for each day”. I get it. I seriously thought the same thing until I decided to give gratitude a try for myself. It's not always this big process where I sit down, take out my journal and write down the top three things I'm grateful for every day. Rather, I take the time to practice gratitude in the moment. Sometimes, it's simply acknowledging how good my coffee tastes in the morning. But just in case you aren’t familiar with the benefits of expressing gratitude, I wanted to share a really informative article with you. It says: “Thanking others, thanking ourselves, Mother Nature, or the Almighty – gratitude in any form can enlighten the mind and make us feel happier. It has a healing effect on us (Russell & Fosha, 2008). The benefits of gratitude are endless, and in this article, let us try to explore what gratitude is, discuss its scientific base, and understand how we can use gratitude to be happier in life.” - Positive Psychology, “The Neuroscience of Gratitude” article Click here to read the article For me, gratitude has lead to: - a more positive mindset and better overall mood
- the ability to remain positive (yet realistic) during difficult times
- better health
I've incorporated gratitude into my yoga practice for years and recently started making more of an effort of incorporating it into my teaching style. If you’re curious about how I do this, I’d love to invite you to join me at one of our beach classes where it is so easy to feel gratitude when surrounded by the ocean. We have quite a few classes left in our season! Click HERE to register. I would also like to express my gratitude for YOU! I aboslutely love sharing my love and joy of yoga and I thank you for taking the time to share your practices with me. Your time is precious and I don’t take it lightly that you’re giving me some of that precious time. I can't do what I absolutely love to do without you and I am always so humbled and honored to share this time with you. Thank you for sharing a part of your day with me. It is my hope that you feel it is time well spent. Thank you for being you!
